The Literacy United intervention is conducted whereby a certified reading specialist (master’s or doctorate in reading/special education or related field) meet with students weekly for an hour after-school in small academically-homogenous groups (>3 per group).
Intervention will consist of a multi-component individualized treatments focusing on all facets of reading (phonological awareness, phonics, rate, accuracy, vocabulary, comprehension and written expression).
Students are paired based on initial baseline test results and can be reassigned based on individual progress.
